Comments on abstract, title, references

The abstract reflects in an clear and transparent manner the framework, the research question, the methodology, the analysis and the findings of the work. The title is informative and accurate. The references are relevant to the paper's topic, and meet the required style of the Journal.

Comments on introduction/background

The introduction is well-written and presents the existing knowledge of the associated risks of the biomass burning. The authors had clearly provided their research question and described their scientific approach.

Comments on methodology

The authors present in details the methods and the instruments used for measuring the emissions of the sugarcane bagasse-fired boilers, as well as the sampling method. The measuring protocols are inline the requirements of the relevant Standards. It is worth noticing that the authors have well-documented their approach by providing the supporting literature.

Comments on data and results

The illustrated data and results have been provided in an clear and fully understandable way, and they are accompanied with the required statistical analysis. Moreover, the included figures and tables are interesting and they have been refereed and discussed in the accompanied text.

Comments on discussion and conclusions

The authors summarize the findings of the work in the implication section. Moreover the conclusions are inline with the research question and provide a clear answer to that. In addition the authors have reported the applicability of their findings and provided some ideas for the future work.
