Authors compiled a review of varietal change in roots, tubers and bananas: consumer preferences and other drivers of adoption and implications for breeding and their study used selected crops grown in Sub Saharan Africa. This is a good review that could help advance breeding science and for selection crops with good traits. However, authors have not followed the journal guideline in the preparation of their manuscript. Below are some of the comments that could be used to improve the manuscript.

Page 2 line 54, Page 3 Line 11: Avoid the use of possessive pronouns like our, they, we etc.
Page 4 line 7: Separate potatoes from sweet
Table 1 should be drawn without grid lines
Page 10 line 22: Add a comma after cassava
Page 11 Line 11: Delete the word ‘in’ after Tanzania
Page 11 line 199: Put a comma after locations
Page 12 Line 7-10: Provide adequate references
Page 12 Line 14-18: Provide adequate references
While authors reviewed the cases of some crops like cassava, sweet potato in specific regions, it would be nice to see them also consider what obtains in other SSA. For example, cassava is also grown in Ghana. For yam, Nigeria is also one of the largest producers of yam in Africa and the world at large. I would love to see the discussion to consider other areas of production and where breeding has also been sufficiently done.
Authors need a section to conclude their research and give direction for future research.
Reference style is completely wrong. Authors should consult the authors guide and follow it strictly when doing their revision.
