The manuscript reviews the possible implications of combining graphene with silicon carbide and polar dielectric materials as the potential alternative approach for nanophotonics are summarized and presented due to various mechanisms. This a nice and complete reviews of a theoretical and experimental done some years ago. The topic is interesting and results are useful to the polaritonics community. This work should be published somewhere. However, the presentation of the paper should be improved and some points should be clarified before further consideration of the manuscript for the publication in JPMATER.

1) In-line 15 second part of the paper, the authors mentioned that the units of mid to far-infrared spectral range (3-300um), which it does not. Did the authors intend to refer to a micrometer or nanometer?

2) From Equation (1), authors should write down the formula of electric conductivity to support the relation between dielectric function and several doped semiconductors with transparent conductive oxide in terms of plasma frequencies.

3) The abbreviation SPhPs in-line 58 is not defined what does it refer?

4) The numbers of equations are not respected, i.e. from Eq. (4) are jumping to Eq. (54), and to (64). The authors should be re-write the equations correctly.

5) There are many review papers already existing (more than 20) that the author's highlight, please further address the distinguishing feature of this review article. What explicitly was missing? That to justify why this paper should be published and read.
6) The conclusions and outlook section is ok but does need to point to what the authors have found out about the gaps in knowledge that did not exist previously.
7) It’s suggested to compress the pages of the current manuscript while covering the critical points of the topic, which may improve the readability of the paper.
8) Check the Ref. [236] does not match the references section

9) Please go through all of your references and ensure that they are formatted correctly and have the right information as per the journal’s standards. Please also cross-check that the references in the manuscript are linked to the right references in the references section.
