Content of review 1, reviewed on October 19, 2019
Overall statement:
The paper presents a brief review of innovative research in cooling PV modules. The authors performed the standard review model for PV/T systems which follows the taxonomy of PV/T collectors.
The strengths:
1) The paper is well organized with efforts to distinguish each method used for PV cooling. 2) The proposed provides a table of summary, which shows some of the efficiencies of PV/T systems. 3) Illustrative figures from other studies are offered.
Weaknesses
- The methods described are only active methods. Not much discussion of passive cooling methods.
- Table 1 does not specify the type of efficiency, whether electrical, thermal, or combined.
Minor points:
- Section 2.3 “couldbe” the two words should be separated.
- Section 2.3 “conditions is substantially higher than that of PVT-Water.” formatting error and "is" should be replaced with "are".
- Table 1, the first entry for material “Mono pass sheet and fin” is not clear.
Future works:
To consider conducting a review of innovative passive methods of PV cooling and passive circulation in PV/T systems. Overall, I believe reviews in PV/T and solar energy are very important and helpful to put the existing literature into perspective and I believe the authors did a good job in elaborating the concepts and describing works done by different researchers.
This is a post-publication review. The adherence to journal guidelines is not considered as the paper has already been processed by editorial team of the journal.
Furthermore, I would like to congratulate the authors on their review paper.
