In the manuscript entitled “First sustainable synthesis of biobased ethyl and methyl formates by ecocatalysis” which authors are: Lasbleiz, Arthur; Deyris, Pierre-Alexande; Pelissier, Franck; Legrand, Yves-Marie; Grison, Claude; Grison, Claire described the first synthesis of biobased ethyl and methyl formates. The synthetic strategy is based on the transesterification of natural geranyl and citronellyl formates derived from Pelargonium
species essential oils by ethanol or methanol, promoted by an ecocatalyst.
Before the manuscript is accepted for publication, authors must make several modifications, such as:
1) The authors wrote that the reagents were used as purchased. They should provide information on the purity of the purchased reagents.
2) The authors should also provide information on the uncertainties of the equipment used to calibrate or measure the different physicochemical properties.
3) What is the degree of uncertainty in the different calibration curves? What software was used to adjust the calibration curves?
4) In the synthesis of MF from P, were not generated secondary products?
5) Was the effect of temperature taken into account in this research? It would have been important to improve this article if the authors had performed a kinetic study of the proposed reactions.
