Manuscript title: Recent advances of fluorescent probes for fatty liver imaging by lipid droplets detecting
This manuscript summarizes the recent advances in the development of fluorescence probes for lipid droplet detection and imaging, particularly focusing on the probes that are being used for fatty liver imaging. The probes, including general fluorescence probe, NIR and TP probes. This is an interesting review article, providing us timely information about the progress of fluorescence probes for LD detection and FLD detection. This work is recommended for publications in JMCB after addressing following minor questions.
1. “LD”, “LDs” and “FLD” abbreviation in the manuscript are quite confusion, the authors are suggested to carefully define these abbreviations.
2. TOC figures with synopsis section was missing, please add this information in the revised manuscript
3. sensing mechanisms, including ICT, ESIPT, and AIE have been well documented in other review papers, thus the authors are suggested to clarify why these sensing mechanisms were discussed again in this work on section 2 page 5 (it could be removed from the current manuscript).
4. Table 1 compared the probes that available for LDs detection, which is excellent. Whie I would suggest the authors add information of excitation wavelength in the table. For application sections, the authors listed “cells”, it would be better to include specific cell line used in the original publication.
5. For all graphs used in this manuscript, I am not sure whether the graphs were created by authors or copied from the published research. If copied from published papers, permission to use these graphs is essential, and copyright information should be added in the figure caption.
6. The authors are suggested to combine NIR I and NIR II fluorescence probes together (i.e. section 3.2 and 3.3)
7. Advantages and disadvantages of each imaging model, like normal fluorescence probe, NIR, TP are suggested to be discussed
8. In each sub-section, the authors are suggested to add a short discussion to summarize section.
