The need for well-designed RWE studies is beyond dispute and this study fills an important unmet need in non-diabetic CKD.
The study is well-designed and, as suggested by the authors, its main limitations are indeed the relatively short follow up time and small numbers. Nevertheless the findings have scientific merit and clinical relevance.
I note the difference in male (262) vs female (92) participants. Does this reflect the demographics of non-diabetic CKD in the population served by the MHC or does this perhaps reflect selection bias as a result of other factors which impact the attendance of the clinic?
A nice article.
