This systematic review and meta-analysis sought to evaluate the visual mismatch negativity (vMMN) literature in schizophrenia spectrum disorders. The authors included 10 studies in their evaluation and found supporting evidence for a reduced vMMN in schizophrenia patients, particularly around posterior electrode sites and for non-face stimuli. The study was well designed and executed, and covers a topic of interest and importance to clinical neuroscience. I have only a few minor comments.

Abstract
Please define PPF.
Results in the manuscript state that 10 studies were included. Please clarify.

Introduction
Page 4: in the first line schizotypy could be more comprehensively defined. At the moment it reads as if it is in line with positive symptoms, when in fact schizotypy, or schizotypal personality disorder, engenders a range of positive, negative and disorganised features.

Page 4: The second paragraph, second sentence “this component is elicited mainly by…” is a little confusing. Suggest editing, and/or breaking into two sentences.

Methods
Page 6: The search terms are quite specific with regard to schizophrenia and psychosis, but studies were included if they included any schizophrenia spectrum disorder. Is it possible that some relevant studies that were missed? For example, if a study referred to schizotypy/schizotypal personality disorder and not “schizophrenia” specifically.

Some typos and grammatical errors throughout, for example, page 14 “VMMN”
