I enjoyed reading about your relevant study. The role of the nurse educator is not consistently valued and recognized as a practice role in the nursing profession and currently, is being challenged as an advanced practice role in the United States with the new AACN Essentials. Your study provides evidence of the issue and a potential solution to support those who take on the nurse educator role. Your manuscript was easy to follow and informative. I have a few comments that I would like you to address with explanation or revision:
1. Out of the 64 references, only 21 are current within the last 5 years. The discussion section references also follow this ratio of current to older references.
2. Within the Phase 1 interview findings (pp. 12-14), can you provide at least 2 direct quotes for each theme to strengthen evidence for the identified theme?
3. Within the Phase 2 findings (p. 14), the explanation of the first 2 themes (holding on to being a nurse & losing a circle a friends) is not clearly described and supported with direct quotes. Revising lines 25-50 on that page to clearly describe how the information presented captures those 2 themes would enhance the paper. Also, increase the direct quotes to at least 2 per theme to strengthen the evidence in support of the identified theme.

Again, I enjoyed reading about your relevant study. The role of the nurse educator is not consistently valued and recognized as a practice role in the nursing profession. Your study provides evidence of this and a potential solution to support those who take on the nurse educator role. Your manuscript was easy to follow and informative. You addressed my areas needing further explanation or revision in this revised manuscript. I have only one comment - You do not identify NSW (pg. 8 line 21), LHD (pg. 8 line21), and PAR (pg. 10, line 38) the first time used in the manuscript.
