Comments on abstract, title, references

1/The abstract contain: - an expansion or explanation of the title - the purpose of the research - how the research was conducted - what the main findings were - what the findings mean - what recommendations can be made, e.g. for further research.

2/The Title tells the reader very clearly what the subject of the paper is, it include : - the topic, that is, the main, general subject you are writing about. - the focus, that is, a detailed narrowing down of the topic into the particular, limited area of your research.

Comments on introduction/background

The introduction covered important points for the reader by answering these questions: - What was their reason for doing the research? What in general was the research attempting to find out? - What was their hypothesis or thesis? What specifically was the research attempting to prove? - What background information is pertinent to an understanding of the paper? - What literature is pertinent? What other studies have explored the subject?

Comments on methodology

1/ In this section the researcher cited all the specifics of the work done. 2/ The Methods and Materials answered the following questions: - Where?: Location of the work, if relevant. - What?: What equipment and other materials were used in the research. They need to be thoroughly specified. - How?: The procedures and methods used in the research. Every detail should be included.

Comments on data and results

  • In this section authors present the precise data and findings from the research, using visuals to provide the information.
  • Data effectively presented in charts, tables, graphs and diagrams. These accompanied by explanatory text to highlight and interpret significant facts.

Comments on discussion and conclusions

  • In this section authors wrote about their interpretation of their findings and their evaluation of the research.
  • In particular, they give their opinion as to whether the work supported and proved their hypothesis, or whether it did not.

And lastly: Because this paper entitled: "IPEM topical report: the first UK survey of dose indices from radiotherapy treatment planning computed tomography scans for adult patients" was published in journal Physics in Medicine and Biology on September 10, 2018 and under reference: https://doi.org/10.1088/1361-6560/aacc87 Phys.
