Publons API Terms of Service

Thank you for using the Publons API (Application Program Interface). Any use of the Publons API including use of the API through a third-party product is bound by the terms below in addition to the Publons Terms of Service. If you disagree with any of these terms, Publons does not grant you a license to use the Publons APIs. We reserve the right to update and change these terms from time to time without notice.

You expressly understand and agree that Publons shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary damages, including but not limited to, damages for loss of profits, goodwill, use, data or other intangible losses (even if Publons has been advised of the possibility of such damages), resulting from your use of the API or third-party products that access data via the API.

Abuse or excessively frequent requests to Publons via the API may result in the temporary or permanent suspension of your account's access to the API. Publons, in its sole discretion, will determine abuse or excessive usage of the API. Publons will make a reasonable attempt via email to warn the account owner prior to suspension.

Publons reserves the right at any time to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, your access to the API (or any part thereof) with or without notice.

In addition to the above terms you shall not:

• Use the Publons API for any application that replicates or attempts to replace the essential user experience of Publons.com.

• Use the Publons API to spam, incentivize, or harass users.

• Use the Publons API to post fake or malicious content to Publons.

• Use the Publons API to deduce details beyond that agreed upon by the reviewer, editor, journal, publisher and authors of a review. Including but not limited to the identity of an anonymous reviewer or the subject of an unsigned review.

• Attempt to cloak or conceal your identity or your application's identity when requesting authorization to use Publons APIs.

• Cache or store any User Content other than for reasonable periods in order to provide the service you are providing to Publons users.

• Use the Publons API for any application that constitutes, promotes or is used in connection with spyware, adware, or any other malicious programs or code.

• Use the Publons API in any manner or for any purpose that violates any law or regulation, or any rights of any person, including but not limited to intellectual property rights, rights of privacy, or rights of personality.

• Use the Publons API in a manner that adversely impacts the stability of Publons.com servers or adversely impacts the behavior of other applications using the Publons API. Further, we reserve the right to rate limit or block applications that make a large number of calls to the API that are not primarily in response to direct user actions.

• Sell, lease, or sublicense the Publons APIs or access thereto or derive revenues from the use or provision of the Publons APIs, whether for direct commercial or monetary gain or otherwise.
