  1. This is a very in depth and detailed review of hyperglycemia in the context of COVID 19 cases but the numbers of confirmed DKA and HHS cases are quite small, compared to the large number of screened patients. Why is there such a discrepancy?

  2. There were multiple case reports in the literature regarding COVID 19 leading to new onset type 1 diabetes, with the thought being that this viral infection is leading to manifestation of underlying autoimmunity.

Is your data suggestive of infection possibly leading to an insulin deficiency state, especially in previously diagnosed type 2 patients (I noticed that pre admission A1cs were very elevated)?

Is there access to c-peptide data and is that possibly why patients on insulin therapy in the type 2 diabetes/DKA cohort fared better?
