The manuscript with the title of “Literature review to guide development of a product profile for fried sweetpotato in West Africa” was carefully reviewed. It is of significance to let more people to know the fried sweet potato in West Africa. However, the current review did not focus on the title, is a little mess, and is not well prepared.
Specific comments:
- Introduction: it’s too simple and some description is same with the abstract. Please improve this section with more detailed background, and also point out the significance of writing this review.
-Lines 98-115: the description is not related to fried sweet potato.
-Lines 117-257: "Food Science" is not a good heading, please revise it. Also, this section is not very clear, just a stack of contents. Again, the author should also focus on the title, even if the author would like to compare the difference in processing methods of products and/or product profile between West Africa and other countries, please make it clear, and do not mix all the content together simply.
-Lines 259-312: The section of Gender and Socio-cultural Context focuses on the sweet potato production, but not fried sweet potato. The whole section is not related to the topic of the review.
- Table 1, 000 ha and 000 t should be ×1000 ha and ×1000 t? And % should be provided for Percent of production.

-Please rewrite the title of manuscript to cover all the content, as well as the running title.
