Content of review 1, reviewed on September 16, 2019

1- The article is interested in studying the role of the gene OsHKT1;1 in rice tolerance to salinity, I think it is very good work. 2- The title fits the content of the article and the aim is clear 3- The references are written well : relevant, recent and correctly.

In the introduction/background of the article : 1- The authors did not review the relationship of this family (HKT) with the other families ? 2- Are effective techniques and tools used in linking the objectives of the article ?

1- In the results, the tables and figures relevant and clearly presented, and for the titles, figures, columns, and rows labelled correctly and clearly and Categories grouped appropriately. 2- Is that the genome-wide association mapping identifies a major QTL on chromosome four for root Na+ and the ambulance Na+:K+ ? 3- HKT1;1 regulates Na+ homeostasis during the early tillering stage, may be ? They should be discussed in more detail.
4- For (Characterization of high and low root Na+ isoforms of HKT1;1 in Xenopus oocytes), Why they did not use QT-PCR technology to analyze gene expression, it would be better for more accurate results

-1 The conclusions answer the aims of the study and I think the discussion of the results was good by linking them to the results of the previous articles. 2 The limitations of the study fatal because it got new results related to the gene under study in terms of function and role. 3- HKT1;1 regulates root Na+ content, it need more details. 4- Variants in HKT1;1 underlie natural variation for root Na+ content, it need more varieties for best compared. 5- But I have a question to ask the autho:-The role of HKT1;1 in Na+ exclusion from shoot tissue), Does it actually achieve a standard criterion for characterization of gene function with regard to rice tolerance for salinity ?
