The present version of the manuscript is a significant improvement compared to the original submission. The authors have addressed appropriately most of the previous comments and questions except for two: Q4. I might not have been clear in my previous comment. Customers do not have the capacity to evaluate disease-resistance in the fruits that they buy, they can only appreciate the fact that the fruits are disease-free when they show no symptoms. Please replace "disease resistant" with "disease-free" in line 76. Q8. In the link provided, the creators of plantCARE ask authors who use their software to cite their work. Please, remove link and add citation to the text and reference list (Lescot et al. 2002). Additional minor comments Line 115: Suggestion. Wax biosynthesis should be added to the processes listed in the text as they are a central part of this work. Line 138: The creators of this software ask to be cited when the use of their software is used in a publication. Please, specify DNAMAN version, cite the appropriate publication and add it to the reference list. Line 170: Small correction. Replace "stress responsive" with "stress-responsive". Line 176-177: Information needed. I guess that plant material described in line 381 was used for this experiment. Please, specify that in vitro-propagated apple seedlings were used for this experiment, if that is the case. Line 199: Small correction. MdMYB30 participates in the response to biotic and abiotic stress. Please, correct. Line 260. Small correction. MdMYB30 overexpression conferred resistance to the pathogen. Correct. Line 316. Correction needed. The text leads the reader to think that LpMYB1, an exogenous protein, is overexpressed in Arabidopsis. Also, LpMYB1 is a protein, which cannot be overexpressed. Please, rephrase: "A gene encoding a novel R2R3-MYB transcription factor in L. purpureus, LpMYB1, was overexpressed in Arabidopsis, increasing the drought and salt tolerance of transgenic seedlings". Line 391. Check needed. The shape and the colour of the apples in Figure 7d do not match the "Red Delicious" variety, which to my eyes seem to be something more similar to the variaty "Golden". There could be a mistake in the label in the orchard. Please, check the right apple variety and correct the text.
