Content of review 1, reviewed on May 22, 2020

The proposal of the review is very interesting, as it deals with a reflection on the work developed by breeding programs that contribute to the limited absorption of modern varieties (MVs) and low varietal turnover, addressing the preferences of communities regarding the indications of agronomic research.
However, the authors should organize the review more clearly, so that the reader observes that this reality addressed for that region of Africa is faced in many other countries, where investments in the definition of varieties and indications of planting are high.
In addition to this general organization, regarding the approach, the authors need to follow the standards of the International Journal of Food Science and Technology, reorganize and resubmit the manuscript.
These are regionally very important cultures, where investments in improvements, confront soils, climates, cultural habits and many other factors involved.
This is a very important article to be published, but it goes beyond agronomic research and its returns, a challenging and decisive issue for development.
