There are doubts about one of the main findings of this article, which states that “when glucose-lowering therapies were associated with weight gain, the risk of mortality increased by 8% (HR: 1.08, 1.00 - 1.16) for each 1% reduction in HbA1c.”.
The increase in mortality risk is highly likely due to weight gain, the authors might be better to analyze how many kgs or percent weight gain itself or combined with HbA1c reductions could impact the risk of mortality.
