Abstract brief the main essence of the experiment. However, the abstract not clearly outlined the methodology. Results are mentioned precisely which are lined up with the aims of the experiment. Title apt to the content of the paper. References are used adequately.

Comments on introduction/background

Introduction Introduction provide the research context. Research question is clearly defined and explanation for the research gap is justifiable. Recent and relevant literatures are discussed properly with current topic. The information are connected in a logical order.

Comments on methodology

Selection of methods accordance with the research question defined. Appropriate reference are given for the standard method used to determine the chemical profile of the compost. Variable are defined clearly in terms of assessing the quality of the lettuce after the treatment. However, no any parameters are not measured to evaluate the growth performance of lettuce in different treatments although it is one of the key research question mentioned in the introduction. In summary, details are given for future researchers to replicate this study. Better to include the experimental design in detail. Since two factors involved, this is a factorial experiment. Hence, statistical analysis also should focus on that way.

Comments on data and results

Data representation done scientifically. Illustrated tables are relevant to the scope of the study. Appropriates units are given and the tables are labelled properly.

Texts did not repeat the data represented in the table. But, the statistical analysis to compare the means of variable of different treatments are not clearly mentioned. Further, interaction between compost type and application rate on growth and quality of the compost not clearly stated. Hence, the validity of the results statistically less significant to comment the growth and quality of the lettuce. Better clearly state whether significant interaction is there or not.

Comments on discussion and conclusions

Results are discussed adequately with the proper validation with the previous studies and those are not exceed the context of the current research. If the author concentrate on statistical analysis part deeply , then the results are more meaning full. Other than that, discussions are supported by proper recent references. Conclusion is aligned with the objective of the study. Author also suggested policy makers to implement proper law to regulate the compost standard and usage in Saudi Arabia.
