Comments on abstract, title, references

-Yes, the aim is clear -They found that glutamine supplementation may be beneficial for hypercatabolic event and immune system. But the fact the study is a review study, hey need to provide evidence from previous study that support their statement. Furthermore, immune system is complex and the mechanism it is still unclear of how glutamine can be beneficial for overall immune system in healthy population, auto immune disease or this review only provide for critical ill patients -The title is relevant yet they need to state which population of study that they cover from their review for example; Glutamine: Metabolism and Immune Function, Supplementation and Clinical Translation in hypercatabolic situation - Reference that they used is quit old more than 10 years gap of published date.

Comments on introduction/background

-They mention about common knowledge, but the comparative result might be still under the grey area which can be stated more specifically - For example, they stated since glutamine become very important on the proliferation and immune system. But how? Is there any studies that linked glutamine directly to the immune? Glutamine is non essential amino acid so naturally it can be provide throughout the body, why we need to consider giving them a supplement of glutamine instead of increase their over all protein intake ?

Comments on methodology

-The study selection that include in this review are unclear -They did not restrict their search finding -We do not know how they collect the paper to review

Comments on data and results

Figures are quite clear and indeed relevant despite the figure about the glutamine and immune system need a separate figure to explain how glutamine metabolism may involved or altered in some cases.

Statistic analysis is no need in this paper because it is a literature review.

Comments on discussion and conclusions

Discussion sections include on the result of the review. For the sub theme of this review the aim about to review the metabolism and clinical translation is quite clear. On the other hand, the review of the immune function and alteration of glutamine yet is still unclear. The conclusion connected with what they stated on the result. Limitation is inexplicitly state. we also need a new hypothesis for next project or what. For example, since glutamine can produce glutamate as the end product metabolism and might harm the body as well, the supplementation of specific amino acid might be further evaluate. It is better to give direct supplementation of glutamine or whole protein supplementation. In addition, the exploration and discussion about the involvement of immune function with glutamine is needed
