The submitted manuscript is a typical manuscript about soil amendments. However, in the current version, several information was not provided, and even the discussion section could be improved. Besides, there are several mistakes that should be improved.

  • L16-17. Can you add the scientific name also in the abstract?

  • L17 and L19. Heavy metals or trace elements? I think that Cd is not a trace element. Please, unify these kinds of questions.

  • Keywords: Remove "heavy metal". This term is also in the abstract and title, and maybe you can change by "risk assessment".

  • L119. It's not needed to write the specie name again, and if you write, please write now the abbreviated name (C. sativum). Same comment for L121 or L254, while in L125 and L130 seems good. Please, revise these kind of questions.

  • L146. Section 2.2. and section 2.3 Please, write first the sample collection and preparation, and after this, the soil preparation.

  • The soil and substrates characterization are missing. Were soils collected from the field? Which kind of soils? Physicochemical characterization about substratres is needed to understand the metal-availability to plants.

  • L186-187. Table 1 should be indicated as Supplementary data. Really, only detection limits are needed, and this information could be indicated as a sentence, like L194-198 for recoveries.

  • Sections 2.5 and 2.6 could be reduced and merged. Even they could be indicated as supplementary data.

  • L209. BCF values is not really a pollution index. Only the PLI and HRI could be Pollution indices. Maybe you can recall this section like "Soil-to-plant transfer factors" for BCF and DIM. Besides, in the BCF you should indicate which plant part was studied. Roots, shoots or all plants? This information is not clear.

  • L248. As is not a HM.

  • L271. Statistical information is missing, and this table should also be indicated physicochemical information on soil and substrates. In L275-278, the authors wrote about the influence of soil properties, but this information is missing. Can you provide it? Besides, the information about metal availability seems important here, but this information is missing.

  • L430. In my opinion, for PCA, you should also consider information about physicochemical soil properties.
