Oftentimes, climate change denial has been limited to inability of humans to conceive intergenerational and global problems. Climate change denial is not a mere exercise of ignorance, it is a well-funded institution comprising of corporations, lobbyist and media companies. Organizations and countries that benefit from climate change causing practices tend to promote climate change denial as can be seen by the recent crackdown on climate change referral in the US government. In this study, Harvey et al shows the role of informal media such as blogs can be a useful platform for dissemination on climate change.

Climate change denial has been increasing in the US because of the current politicization of the problem. Blogs have been on the forefront of spreading pseudoscientific news on climate change. In contrast, the body of knowledge on climate change in scientific journals increased exponentially. Thus, researchers continue to sing to the choir without engaging the public. Harvey et al recommend scientist keep blogs and participate in social media.
