This is a very interesting and convincing study as it investigates the generic structure of the English discussion of results sections in international and local journals from the field of dentistry employing Basturkmen’s (2009, 2012) and Yang and Allison’s (2003) moves/steps frameworks. Although Basturkmen (2012) provided a detailed description of the generic moves in dentistry RA discussion sections, this study adds to our stock of knowledge by comparing English discussion sections written by Arab writers in local journals with a representative sample of discussion sections in international journals. The study employed relevant existing frameworks of discussion sections (Basturkmen, 2012; Yang and Allison, 2003). The author(s) is required to address the minor comments copied below.
Minor points like figures/tables not being mentioned in the text, a missing reference, typos, and other inconsistencies.
- Provide more details about the Step sub-move in the Analytical Procedure section. Although it’s mentioned in Table 1 (Step 1, 2, 3, etc), the author did not providing any explanation. Please rephrase and rewrite it avoiding typos.
- A list of the investigated 26 journals is inserted in Appendix 1; the author, however, should have inserted in-text citations following the excerpts/examples in the text.
- Explain to the reader what is meant by 'emic' account? (Page 66, Line 2).
- Comment on why this step was repeated 14 times in RA BDJ8 (Table 2) compared to the low occurrence in other RAs.
- Delete the redundant first sentence in the discussion section which is mentioned in the Conclusion.
- Add doi persistent links to journals articles.
