Thank you very much for the opportunity to review manuscript ESO-23-01-010, “Building spaces of interactions between researchers and managers: Case studies with wildlife monitoring and conservation in France.”. I think this manuscript covers an important topic and I very much appreciate the authors sharing their experiences and providing their recommendations in this work.

I think the manuscript is adequately written and the individual sections are well presented. I don’t have any major comments about the work and was mostly curious to learn about the experience the authors had and what insights they shared.

I very much hope that this kind of model gets wide attention because I very much agree with the points made in this manuscript that we need to actively work on closing the gap between research and practice. The arguments brought forward in this manuscript make a lot of sense to me.

Minor comment:
In the Introduction (Line 70 and no) the ‘For managers’ and ‘For academics’ parts could be individual, maybe indented paragraphs to make it easy for reader to see those sets of questions.

Best regards,
