The authors have successfully addressed most of the remaining concerns and have sufficiently highlighted the uncertainties when comparing across taxa. Their efforts in refining these points are much appreciated.
I have only a single minor point remaining regarding the definition provided. I have recommended a clear and mathematically explicit definition in previous reviews, and I appreciate their attempt to clarify this. However, the current definition (L332):
"is not the probability of being mature; rather, it is the probability of making the transition for an individual that is now in the immature state" is imprecise.
Hence, even if the authors "believe that our definition, which encompasses both maturity and seed production, is well suited" for DGVMs, I have to counter that it still lacks the precision needed.
To enhance clarity and utility, I suggest providing a more precise mathematical definition. Perhaps an example could help illustrate the necessary precision. For instance, consider:
"is not the probability of being mature; rather, it is the size and trait conditional annual probability of making the transition for an individual that is now in the immature state to that which is in the mature state."
Given that we are working with continuous size and time fully physiological models, it is crucial to have a clear understanding of what we need to integrate/differentiate and how it needs to be done. Providing an exact, mathematically useful definition will aid in the application of the authors model.
