Review of ‘Experiments are needed to quantify the main causes of insect decline’. In this revised manuscript the authors have dealt with most of my previous comments well. I find that the manuscript is more balanced now and brings forth important considerations in addition to the main plea for large-scale experimentation to find out the major causes of insect decline. Some of the responses in the response letter were rather short and unhelpful, but luckily the manuscript itself is rather short, making it relatively easy to find the relevant sections.
