Dear author,

This randomized clinical trial clearly establishes the role of platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) in the treatment of tympanic membrane perforation. The authors declare the PRF added to the temporal fascia graft enhances the wound healing. The aim is clear, the title is informative and the references are quite recent. The introduction is informative enough and clearly provides the scientific background of the study.

Major points in the article which need clarification: -include some systematic review or meta-analysis of platelet-rich fibrin application in otology or in other fields of medicine. -provide good studies of PRF efficacy in other fields of otorhinolaryngology to clarify its expected role in myringoplasty. -the introduction lacks a sentence of the trial's rationale. Please provide it as the last paragraph of the introduction. Please provide the following data to enable study replication: -enrolment period, who performed it, and where (third paragraph of methods). -who performed the randomization (blinded/nonblinded) (third paragraph of methods). -Since this is a randomized controlled clinical study author should adhere to appropriate reporting guidelines, i.e. CONSORT statement. Therefore include CONSORT check-list in supplementary data and CONSORT flow-chart as a figure 1 (as a part of the methods). Please provide information on the follow-up time (seventh paragraph of methods). Additionally, authors should consider reporting the platelet concentrations in PRF, especially if the PRF preparation is home-made (i.e., non-commercial). Provides this information as a separate subheading of the methodology. -please provide three subheadings of methods: e.g., patients, PRF preparation, and statistical analysis. -there is no basis to declare that PRF treatment is cheap. Please provide the cost of this treatment (in the new subheading of PRF preparation) or state clearly if the cost cannot be provided (and why not). -the discussion lacks recent studies, please update to the newest studies as possible.

Minor points in the article which need clarification: -There is a missing reference to the information (about 6%) of chronic otitis media in India in paragraph 2 of the Introduction. Is this an estimated prevalence? -software name in methods (paragraph 2 of Statistical analysis), -materials (incorporate it in the section of patients and PRF preparation), -definition of graft uptake (Paragraph 6 of methods).
