The topic of this study is very relevant to international advanced nursing communities. However, this study has a couple of crucial shortcomings:
1. While claimed as a national survey, this sample is probably not a representative sample of the targeted population. While national data has not been identified at the moment, as a nurse educated in and worked in Australia, I do not consider 65% of the Australian registered nurses to have the highest qualification as postgraduate or above; 30% as Nurse Educator/Manager; and 38% work in Regional/Rural/remote hospitals.
2. As an online survey with 1200 responses and only 305 responses were considered as valid (i.e. being included in the study), a survey tool with only about one-quarter of responses being a valid response cannot be considered as a valid research tool.
