I would like to thank the editor for offering this opportunity to review this manuscript. The purpose of this study is “to test whether psychosocial factors (depression, anxiety, recent loss events, subjective social support, relationship status, general distress, neuroticism) are associated with the incidence of cancer (any, breast, lung, prostate, colorectal, smoking-related, alcohol-related); 2) to test the interaction between psychosocial factors and factors related to cancer risk (smoking, alcohol use, weight, physical activity, sedentary behaviour, sleep, age, sex, education, hormone replacement therapy and menopausal status) with regards to incidence of cancer; 3) to test the mediating role of health behaviours (smoking, alcohol use, weight, physical activity, sedentary behaviour, and sleep) in the relationship between psychosocial factors and the incident of cancer. This is an important and interesting topic. As a protocol report, the manuscript is well organized and reported the methodology properly and in detail. I am looking forward to the final report.
