The manuscript is well written and ihe subject of this manuscript is very important. Please find my comments and suggestions (for your consideration) below:
Overall, the abstract provides a concise overview of the study and its findings.
The introduction provides a solid foundation for the study by highlighting the global impact of obesity and the specific context of England.
The methods section provides a clear outline of the data sources and analysis approach used in the study
4.Clarify any assumptions or limitations associated with the model. For example, it is mentioned that the model assumes people remain within an obesity class over their lifetime, and it would be helpful to explain the rationale behind this assumption.
Consider providing more details on the risk ratios used in the model for the impact of obesity on mortality and HCRU. This could include information on the methodology or study design of the papers from which the risk ratios were derived.
Provide more context or interpretation of the prevalence and mortality findings. Discuss the implications of the observed patterns and their significance in the context of obesity-related health risks.
Simiarly, provide more context or interpretation on resource utilization. This could include addressing the implications of the HCRU findings for healthcare policy and resource allocation, as well as discussing the potential reasons for the geographical variations observed.
if not possible to expand the analysis, consider expanding the discussion on the potential effects of weight reduction (including interventions) on existing comorbidities such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and serious mental illness.
As for the consideration of existing comorbidities authors can add a discussion addressing the potential impact of weight reduction (and interventions) on the management and costs of conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and serious mental illness and if appropriate authors can discuss existing evidence or clinical guidelines on the effect of weight reduction on these comorbidities and the potential benefits and challenges of addressing weight management in individuals with these conditions.
Additionally, they can consider mentioning the need for tailored interventions or multidisciplinary approaches to address the complex interplay between obesity and comorbidities.
