Comments on abstract, title, references

The aim of the article is mentioned twice in the abstract and is confusing to the reader as to what the article is going to discuss.

Regarding the title of the article, it has to be informative and relevant. Some of the references used are relevant. Since the aim of the article is not clear, it is difficult to pinpoint which key studies should have been included.

Comments on introduction/background

The introduction should have included what is known about this topic. The topic of the research should be placed in context. The introduction should explain why this research is important and should state a research question. References are scarce in the introduction The author should have established the current knowledge in the field of research and should have stated the gap in the research they are looking to fill. The author should have defined the research problem or explained why filling the knowledge gap is important. There should be sufficient information to establish the existing knowledge about the topic of this research. The introduction claims to offer a solution and create an intervention that might benefit teachers and students It is, however, unclear from the introduction what the purpose of the paper is. The introduction should have a clear statement of the research objectives, hypotheses or specific research questions. The intentions of the paper should have been clearly stated.

Comments on methodology

• There should be a reference to process of subject selection
• There should be a reference to variables and their definition or any reference to measuring them
• Study methods should have been included The article makes reference to teachers in a particular region of Saudi Arabia, Wadi-Ad-Dawasir. It intends to investigate the teachers and learners of English in the region; however, the article does not refer to methodology or to selection of subjects or the population they represent. The article makes general claims about teachers and learners in the mentioned area and makes even more general claims about the larger Arab region. However, it is unclear whether they are results of a study that the article failed to mention. The article should have had a research question or a hypothesis. It has not succeeded in investigating what it intended to investigate which is ‘the role of language teachers in facilitating learning processes through conducting active research of English language learners’.

Comments on data and results

The paper requires its conclusion to be based on data; therefore, the author should avoid deduction, inferencing, and opinion. The authors should substantiate the claims about learners' learning styles and teachers teaching styles in a particular region of Saudi Arabia, Wadi-Ad-Dawasi, and should clearly explain how these conclusions were drawn. Tables and figures are only used in the literature review.

Comments on discussion and conclusions

The article should have had a clear discussion and conclusion section and should have avoided relying solely on the authors point of view regarding what teaching should be and what teachers should do, with a few references to findings from the literature in this field. The reference to the case of Wadi-Ad-Dawasir region and practices of teachers and learners, although mentioned more than once, needs to be substantiated by findings from previous studies and or findings of the present study in the form of qualitative or quantitative data. These results would allow for generalizations about the same practices in the Arab world. The results should be placed into context. The conclusions should answer the aims of the study The conclusions should be supported by references or results The article should mention its limitations.
