You should reframe the research quesitions (editing the Introduction as needed) to center your paper around the key aspects of alternative state (stable state) theory. I need to undertake parametric analyses in replace of non-parametric LOESS regressions. Undertaking an analysis of landscape metrics would strengthen the work. Based on this you can then tackle your discussion.
