In many of the manuscripts they attribute the effect of the plant extract due to the presence of phenolic compounds or anti-oxidants. Yes, the hydroxyl groups act as a natural agents to minimize the reactivity of the ROS generated. However, attributing the activity of the plant isolate or extract due to presence of phenolic compounds may not be true in all the cases.
