Thank you for the opportunity to review An evaluation of the Psychometric Properties of the Strengths and Difficulties Scale in Turkey: Implications for Other non-WEIRD Countries.
Upon careful read through, I don’t think this manuscript in its current form, constitutes a stage-I registered report. The purpose of a registered report is to ensure methodological rigor before a study has been conducted, and includes intensive peer review on the research questions, research design, and data analytic methods. The current manuscript does not have specified research questions with testable hypotheses and is lacking a complete data analytic plan. Moreover, the manuscript reads as if the data have been collected (participant section) and analyses have already been conducted (for example in the abstract). Reviewing this as a stage-I report would defy the purposes, in my opinion.
I am not in general negative towards this paper. I believe it is an important topic, and I agree we need more information about psychometric properties of non-WEIRD samples. I do recommend authors include a section in the introduction explaining why the differences in cultures would affect the psychometric properties. There is some mention of individualistic vs. collective cultures, but no clear connection of why that might impact results of the SDQ.
I’d be happy to review the full manuscript if authors decide to submit this for publication and look forward to reading the results. However, again, I do not think the current version of the manuscript can be considered a stage-I registered report.
