This is manuscript describes a social-science study that examines the use of agricultural insurance as a tool for mitigating economic loses on farms from climate change. I do have a concern regarding the value of this study to this particular journal. There is no science that relates to environment or public health. Instead the focus is on farm economics and in particular risk insurance. According to the journals Aims and Scopes the journal links several scientific disciplines in an integrated fashion. Economics / Insurance does not fall directly into any of the subject areas mentioned. From an environmental perspective I find this manuscript rather odd. Insurance is one thing which obviously has importance for the farm business viability but it does nothing to help combat the effects of climate change and the wider impact on society and food security. I would therefore suggest that this manuscript is transferred to either MDPI’s Sustainability or its Agriculture journal.
