Results of clinical experiments that compare open-loop regulation of glucose concentrations with hybrid closed-loop automated insulin delivery. The results indicate that closed-loop AP systems improve time in range compared to open-loop glucose regulation.
The hybrid closed-loop approach with announced meals and exercise is already commercially available. Comparison of the study results with those reported for the commercial hybrid closed-loop results (clinical and free-living) should be made.
Also, the statement in the second paragraph of the “Discussion of Results” section” Most studies with CL systems have been conducted in current life conditions with standardized meals.19-21” refers to early investigations and must be updated.
For example, reference 19 is published in 2010 and the same authors have reported many newer studies, including results for a system that is completed for long-term closed-loop studies reported at the ADA 2019.
Without these updates, the manuscript risks being outdated when published.
