Content of review 1, reviewed on August 08, 2017

This publication constitutes an “out of the box” proposal that fosters discussion on the power of some editors (when the paper did not even get to the peer review phase) and on the veto power of two or three reviewers to decide what is and what is not research that merits to be published. The problem lies on the fact that “All academics aim to publish in high impact journals” when academics should aim to discover the next big thing, find the cure for cancer, find a cost-effective water pasteurizer etc etc http://www.millennium-project.org/millennium/challenges.html The paramount aim of academia should be to value diversity. Give value to those who discover new things, to those who excel on teaching and also to those who are especially skilled to perform peer review activities.
