Abstract

This paper presents the introduction of Lean Production in a clothing (TCI) company. This company had never heard about Lean Production but it was curious and it accepted the challenge to have a researcher in its facilities. At the research conclusion, the company becomes interested and it implemented some proposals to overcome problems identified in the company's production system through a critical analysis to the current production system. The solutions proposed to the problems identified are based on Lean principles and tools. The proposals are presented, revealing that the modifications suggested to the finishing sector allowed the simplification of material flow and control of production, reduction of Work-in-Process (WIP) as well the reduction of waste associated with transportation activities between work stations.
