Abstract

Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever (CCHF) is a tick-borne viral infection caused by CCHF virus (CCHFV), a member of Nairovirus group of the Bunyaviridae family. We report here a child, living in the urban area, with hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis ( HLH) triggered by CCHFV infection. Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis is an uncommon complication of CCHF. He has been successfully treated with ribavirin, intravenous immunoglobulin and supportive therapy. We should be aware of this association, because rapid diagnosis and treatment are important for these diseases.
