    Shervin Assari

    Assari is an assistant professor at Department of Psychiatry, with a joint appointment at School of Public Health, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. As a community mental health researcher, he studies contextual effects of race, ethnicity, gender, and place on social, behavioral, and medical determinants of health and illness. Instead of universal determinants of health, Assari research reveals that pathways to health and illness that are specific to groups. He has widely published on role of context in health. Assari has published more than 190 published peer review manuscripts in PubMed. He has also served on the Board of Directors of American College of Epidemiology (ACE), American Academy of Health Behaviors (AAHB), and and Scientific for Public Health in Iran (SAPHIR). He is currently the president of SAPHIR.
