    Sónia Alexandra Correia Carabineiro

Sónia Carabineiro graduated in Applied Chemistry (branch of Biotechnology) at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the New University of Lisbon, Portugal (FCT-UNL) and obtained her Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering (Catalysis) in 2001 at the same University. In 2000 she was an Invited Researcher at Leiden University, The Netherlands, and Post Doctoral Researcher from 2001 to 2003 at the same University. In 2004 she got a Post Doc grant at the Centre of Structural Chemistry of the Technical University of Lisbon (CQE-IST). In 2007 she joined the Laboratory of Catalysis and Materials (LCM), part of Associate Laboratory LSRE-LCM, at the Department of Chemical Engineering (DEQ) of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP), as an Assistant Researcher, with a Ciencia 2007 grant from Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). In 2013 she became a Principal Researcher (Investigador FCT grant) at the same lab. Her research work deals mostly with catalysis by gold nanoparticles, mixed metal oxides and nanostructured carbon materials for oxidation reactions, degradation and adsorption of air and water pollutants. More recently, she has been working in collaboration with the CQE-IST on the heterogenisation of homogenous (soluble) metal complex catalysts. She has also collaborations with other Universities of Portugal and abroad. She is currently the female reviewer in the world with more revisions done.

I'm a postdoctoral researcher. My interests are ranging from soil contamination by potentially toxic elements and microplastics.

I'm author/co-author of 15 articles in SCI journals (121 citations and h index of 7), five book chapters and 23 communications to national and international conferences.

I participated in two local and regional projects and a spanish national project about soil remediation with nanoparticles.

Also, I'm Principal Investigator in an project with microplastics and their impact in terrestrial ecosystems and researcher in a project of soil remediation by nanoparticles. Both projects are funding by CNRS (France).

Finally, I achieved the Certification to become "Assistant Professor" (Profesor Ayudante Doctor") (february 2017) and "Associate Professor" (Profesor de Universidad Privada and Profesor Contratado Doctor") (december 2017).
