Main research interests target the actions of sex steroid hormones in male reproduction and carcinogenesis. Experimental approaches use cell lines, animal models and/or human samples involving genomic, transcriptomic and metabolomic analysis. Current research is focused on: i) androgens/estrogens actions controlling apoptosis, cell metabolism and calcium homeostasis; ii) the molecular mechanisms underpinning infertility and carcinogenesis associated with metabolic and hormonal disorders; iii) the development of innovative biomarkers and therapeutic options for management and treatment of hormone-dependent cancers.
