Pasquale Gallo obtained his Bachelor (2010) and Master's Degree (2012) in Mechanical Engineering and Product Innovation Engineering (Mech. Eng.) respectively, at University of Padova (Italy). On February 2016 he obtained the PhD Degree in Mechatronics and Product Innovation Engineering, major of Mechanics of Materials, at University of Padova. On March 2016 he joined Aalto University (Finland) as a Postdoctoral Fellow. In November 2016 he was awarded a fellowship under the "JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship for Overseas Researchers" program and joined Kyoto University (Japan). The scientific activity mainly focuses on fracture nanomechanics. Along with this, he investigates the fatigue assessment of welded structures/joints (mainly made of thin plates) obtained from advanced methods, e.g. laser welding. Static and fatigue-strength of structural components at room and high temperature, multiaxial fatigue, linear and nonlinear fracture mechanics, and Strain Energy Density approach are also topics of interest.
