After a year in private practice in Southeastern Washington, he completed an equine internal medicine residency at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in Columbus, Ohio. After 20 years at the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine as Professor and Section Chief of Internal Medicine, he is currently LVMA Equine Committee Professor and Director of the Equine Health Studies Program at Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine and a Diplomate in the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM). In addition to being Director of the Equine Health Studies Program and a clinical faculty member in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences, his research interests are gastrointestinal diseases (pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment of gastric ulcers) and endocrine diseases (pituitary pars intermedia dysfunction [PPID]) in horses.
I am an associate professor in the School of Library and Information Science at the Louisiana State University (LSU). My primary research areas are knowledge organization systems (such as taxonomy, thesaurus, topic maps, and ontology), information retrieval systems (especially cross-language information retrieval and text classification), and computational linguistics for text analysis.
