As part of Peer Review Week, IOP Publishing are proud to announce an agreement with Publons, a free service which enables reviewers to track, verify and showcase their peer review contributions. By partnering with Publons, IOP Publishing reviewers can seamlessly have their reviewer records updated in Publons with the click of a button. Reviewers get recognition even if the reviews are anonymous and the manuscript is never published.
“We want to make it as easy as possible for our reviewers to gain credit for the work. Peer review is a vital part of scholarly publishing and it’s important the people who do this work are rewarded”, said Managing Editor, Kim Eggleton.
As of 2017, reviewers for participating journals will get the option to have a verified record of each review they do added to their Publons profile. By default, only the name of the journal and the year of the review will be displayed, so anonymity of the reviewers is completely protected.
“Publons is thrilled to add IOP Publishing to its growing list of formal partners. IOP have a proud record of supporting experts the world over to advance science and research. Today’s announcement shows their commitment to honouring the heroes of peer review as well”, said Andrew Preston, CEO and co-founder at Publons.
