An experiment in open access peer review
We're launching an initial drive for reviews to test some of the ideas we have on the future of peer review & academic publishing.
You can participate by reviewing a paper you've recently read, and telling us all about the open review experience. Did you like it? Hate it? What would you change?
Read on for the why & the how.
Why write an open review?
- It's good for science (reviews have value to more than just the author & journal editor)
- It's good for reviewers (get recognition and build reputation for their efforts)
- It's good for authors (feedback that is fair and transparent)
- It's good for open access (preprints + OA peer review = completely free, peer-reviewed OA content).
How do I write a review?
The workflow for writing a review at Publons is as easy as 1-2-3:
- Write a review
We'll follow up with everyone that writes a review, but open discussion on the merits of open peer review is welcomed here & on our manifesto.
Also keep an eye out for future blog posts on the results and feedback.
