Peer reviewers spend countless hours enhancing the quality of scholarly communication. Now, you can thank those who go above and beyond with our new ‘Author feedback’ feature for journals with open peer review policies.
As authors, you are uniquely placed to rate how a peer review helped you advance your research. Now you can do that.
Building on our ‘Excellent Review’ feature released in 2016, authors who have submitted to journals with open peer review policies can score the peer reviews of their papers for their clarity, helpfulness, and thoroughness.
This feature helps you recognize those peer reviewers who have made an exceptional effort to improve the quality of your work, helping you contribute a more robust addition to scholarly literature as a result.
Watch our video to learn how you can rate an open peer review:
Reviews that score seven out of a possible nine points are deemed ‘Excellent.’ If a reviewer receives this high score from an author we will showcase an ‘Excellent’ badge next to the review record on their Publons profile. These reviews will also stand out in the reviewers’ Publons Verified Record.
A few things to note...
Exact scores are completely confidential, and scored reviews that do not meet the requirements for excellence will not be indicated on reviewers’ profile or displayed in any other public part of the site.
The feature is currently limited to authors of manuscripts submitted to journals with open review policies, and only published reviews can be scored. You can see the list of journals with open peer review policies here.
