2020s - the decade reviewer recognition goes global!

At the end of 2019, we celebrated 62 new partners in the year and highlighted the increased global diversity of our partnerships throughout the years - from 2015 when all of our partners were based in Europe and North America, to the end of 2019 with 48% of our partners based in Asia Pacific, 23% in Europe, 18% in North America and 10% in Emerging Markets, including Latin America and Middle East & North Africa.

As we round off the first quarter of 2020, we're pleased to report new or extended partnerships that continue to increase this diversity. As of the beginning of April, we now partner with a global network of 7,000+ scholarly journals from 270+ publishers, all bringing greater recognition, efficiency and transparency to scholarly peer review. We're also proud to see a national agreement for peer reviewer recognition rolled out in Egypt (more on this below).

Earth

Over 35% of journals in the Web of Science Core Collection are now partnered with Publons Reviewer Recognition Service, vs. 15% in October 2019. This rise demonstrates the increasing acknowledgement of the importance of reviewer recognition amongst the world’s highest quality journals. Practically, the growth in our publisher community means that researchers everywhere can automatically track and verify their peer review contributions, past and present, for more of the journals they contribute to.

  • In MENA

Egyptian Knowledge Bank has partnered with Publons to help Egypt’s researchers, universities and journals improve the profile, quality and efficiency of their peer review processes. 650 scholarly journals are now benefiting from this partnership, in the first national agreement for peer reviewer recognition.

  • In APAC

World Scientific Publishing, the largest international scientific publisher in the Asia-Pacific region, has entered a landmark trial agreement with Publons, which both parties envisage rolling out further subject to success.

  • In the US

Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), the world's largest educational and scientific computing society, has partnered with Publons to bring recognition to reviewers for 56 of their journals.

  • In Europe

We’re extending our partnerships with three major scholarly publishers:

Taylor & Francis -- expanding Publons Reviewer Recognition Service to their entire portfolio of 2000+ journals to make sure all of their reviewers get the recognition they deserve.

Frontiers -- the open access publisher partnered with Publons at the end of 2019 and will be rolling out our Publons Reviewer Recognition Service to their entire portfolio in 2020.

Springer Nature -- offering past review upload to their 2,000 journals that already have Publons Reviewer Recognition Service, in order to formally acknowledge their reviewers’ historic contributions from years past.
