Xuewen Wang


Dr. Xuewen Wang is a research scientist in genetics, genomics and bioinformatics in University of Georgia, and Kunming Institute of Botany (KIB), Chinese Academy of Sciences. He conducted postdoc research in University of Georgia during 2008-2012, after obtained PhD in 2008 from King’s College London, United Kingdom, majored in molecular genetics. After back to China in 2012, he became a leading scientist of tobacco genome in China Tobacco Gene Research Center. In April 2013, he moved to KIB as a research group leader. His research focuses on what the entire genome sequences are, which genes affect traits, and how to guide molecular breeding for agricultural important crops. He has conducted several genomic projects, such as crops maize, Eragrestis tef, fonio, wheat, and other agricultural important Camellia sinensis (drink tea), Camellia oleifera (oil tea), tobacco. Recently he has published several important papers cited > 300 times, and has several bioinformatics software and patents. He is a member of many international academic societies. He is peer reviewer and editor of many academic journals.
