Hua Zhao


I received my Ph.D. from New Jersey Institute of Technology, followed by a post-doc training at Rutgers University. I am currently a Professor of Chemistry at University of Northern Colorado.

My major research areas include:

• Biocatalysis in ionic liquids and deep eutectic solvents • Enzymatic synthesis of polylactide • DNA-based hybrid catalysts for asymmetric catalysis • Sustainable energy (cellulosic ethanol, biodiesel and enzymatic biofuel cells) • Green solvents (ionic liquids, deep eutectic solvents, glymes) • Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) with anti-cancer and anti-HIV properties • Microwave-assisted synthesis of biological molecules
