Faramarz Nilfouroushan received a B.S. (1991) in surveying engineering and an M.S. (1996) in geodesy from K. N. Toosi University, Tehran, and is a geoscientist. In 2003, he was awarded a Ph.D. scholarship by Uppsala University where he received a Ph.D. (2007) in geodynamics. In 2008–2009, he undertook his postdoctoral research in geodynamics in the University of Toronto. In 2015, he was qualified as a Docent (Associate professor) at Uppsala University. He is currently a senior lecturer in applied geodesy at the University of Gävle and is senior geodesist at the Swedish land survey (Lantmäteriet).
